Esley H. Narmour, Jr., age 82, of Ingram passed away on June 27, 2003 in Kerrville. He was born June 24, 1921 in Mosheim, Texas at the home of Dr. W.W. Blankenship. Hank, or June as he was known then, grew up in Mosheim and graduated from Mosheim High School in 19. He attended Texas AM for a short time and Hemphill Diesel School in Memphis, Tenn.Hank enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in October 1941, later was transferred to the Amphibious Command of the 2nd Engr. Special Brigade of the Corp of Engineers. He was stationed in Chanute Field, ILL, Blythe, California, Camp Edwards, Mass., Carabelle, Fla., and was shipped out of Fort Ord California in February 1943 for the South Pacific. Landing in Brisbane, Australia, then on to New Guinea and the landing at Leyte, Phillipines Islands. He was shipped back to the states and was honorably dischared at Ft. Sam Houston on December 18, 1945 with the rank of Staff Sgt.Hank married Mary Lou Etheridge in Edinburg, Texas on September 15, 1951.He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Mary Lou son, Ronald Dean of San Antonio daughter, Melanie Jean Gault and husband Jim of Austin and one grandaughter Lauren Price of Madison, Wisc. brother Reg and wife Pat of Charlott, NC as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins. Hank will also be missed by the many friends he had all over the state of Texas.Hank and Mary Lou moved to Ingram, Texas from Lubbock in December 1989 and became members of the First Christian Church in Kerrville and were volunteers at the Kerrville VA Hospital where they made many friends.Hank was very active in the American Legion for 45 years. He served as Post Camander of Lubbock 575, 19th Dist. Camander and Fourth Division Camander and in 1987 was elected State Commander of the Dept. of Texas, and was very involved in the organization of Hill Country Post 64 of Ingram.In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Hanks honor to American Legion Hill Country Post 64, 325 Live Oak, Ingram, TX 78025.
