Just short of 99 years young, Ernestine ''Tina'' Jamerson Wilson passed from this life on Friday, July 27, 2018, two weeks after a fall that fractured her spine.
The daughter of Robert Eber Smith and his wife, Nora Gertrude Potts, Tina entered this world in Paris, Texas, on November 25, 1919, the middle child of six siblings, all of whom preceding her in death.
Reared in Dallas, Tina learned to tap dance and to skate through the Great Depression. Always ahead of her time, she carved out a career for herself, becoming a title clerk in the automobile sales industry. She married Roy Everett Jamerson on New Year's Eve 1939, and they were the parents of one daughter, Jackie Jo, now a resident of Kerrville.
Roy and Tina enjoyed traveling through these United States, and eventually settled in the Texas Hill Country, in Mason. There, she made many friends, was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Historical Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
After Roy passed away in May 1990, Tina found love the second time around with retired Air Force pilot Major Jack O. Wilson of Fort Worth. She and Jack were flying high and enjoying their retirement, until his life was cut short in August 1997.
Tina returned to her home in Mason, where she continued to travel on her own and to create magic with her sewing machine. Countless children received a gift of her perfectly created Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, if not one of her stuffed bunnies. When her eyesight began to fail in her 90s, she moved to an apartment in Fredericksburg, where she enjoyed flowers, nature walks, and books on tape. She lived life as best she could make it until mid-July of this year.
Tina was also preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Everett Dodson, and her two sons-in-law, Roger Wayne Dodson and Carl James Watson, as well as her great-great-grandson, Justus Roy Gray.
She is survived by a long list of close friends and closer relatives. Her daughter, Jackie Dodson Watson, of Kerrville. Her grandson, Dereck Glen Dodson (Stacey), and triplet great-grandsons: David, Roger, and Glenn. Also her great-granddaughter, Tiffany Dodson Arredondo (Eduardo) and great-great-grandchildren, Dennis, Emily, and Eriana. Niece Jill Wilson Lander, and other numerous Wilson nieces and nephews. Niece Martha Hix (Carl) and their granddaughter, Natalie Weller. Nephew David Atherton (Linda). Nieces Gail Goyette (Eddie) and Barbara Jamerson. And a special daughter of her heart June Jones, and June's family-Charley, Chuck, Peggy, and Patty.
There will be a celebration of Tina's remarkable life at a later date.
