Kerrville Ernest Earl Strange, 88, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life at a local hospital on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Ernest was born on September 17, 1925 in Sour Lake, Texas to Ernest E. Strange Sr. and Evelyn A. Lawrence Strange.

The family moved to Abilene, Texas and shortly thereafter, Ernest Sr. started a business himself. In 1930, they moved to East Texas and resided for brief period in the Tyler, Kilgore and Overton areas. In 1936, the family moved to Waco, Texas where Ernest and his sister Patricia, went through the public school system. He graduated from High School in 1943 and entered the United States Army. Upon being discharged in 1946, he entered Baylor University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree, graduating in1950.

In1947, he had been employed by a local church furniture manufacturing company. He continued with that profession for a few years, until he reentered the United States Army in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. In 1953, he was discharged and resumed his career after returning to Waco. He also enrolled at Baylor to pursue his post graduate work where he received his Masters Degree in Economics in 1955 having gone to school at night.

In 1953 he met Carlene Lorenzen while they were both employed by the same firm. They were married in 1956 and they were blessed with two children, Leslie Suzanne and Scott T. Strange

In 1960 in union with one other associate they formed Imperial Woodworks in Waco, Texas. The company was devoted exclusively to the design and manufacture of custom church furniture which was distributed in all 50 states and overseas. Ernest continued in the capacity of Designer, Sales Manager and Vice President until his retirement in1987. He, Carlene and their grandson Scott Jr. moved to Kerrville in 1992. They joined the First United Methodist Church in 1992 and all were active in the church for many years.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Suzanne his parents, Ernest and Evelyn Strange his sister, Mrs. L. M. Boyd of Seattle, Washington.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory are his wife, Carlene Strange, of Kerrville, Texas his son, Scott Strange, and wife Annette along with his granddaughter, Kara Strange all of Harper, Texas his grandson, Scott Strange Jr. and wife Sarah along with his great granddaughter, Emerson Kate, all of Kerrville, Texas.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be forwarded to the charity of ones choice

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, Texas 78028.
