Erma Price Day Nicholson passed away peacefully June 21, 2002. She was born prematurely February 13, 1909, in Sidon, Arkansas, to Marina Emaline Holmes and William Calloway Price. No one expected her to survive, but she did for 93 years, 4 months, and 8 days. She graduated from high school in Searcy, Arkansas, in 1929, and went to work in the Mayfair Hotel where she met and married Wilson Day. They worked together in the hotel industry for many years. Among the properties they managed was the Rose Inn Hotel of Crossett, Arkansas. Erma was always involved in her church wherever she lived. She taught Sunday School, was active in the womens groups, and especially gave her time to the youth in the Methodist Church. She worked at the Rehabilitation Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where she met and married Preston Nicholson. They enjoyed rockhounding and had an outstanding rock collection that was donated to Hardin College of Searcy where they retired. When Erma became ill with Alzheimers, she moved to Kerrville, Texas, to be near her son Shelby Day and daughter Linda Day. The last five years of her life were spent in the home of her loving caregivers John and Belinda Stewart in Lakehills, Texas on Lake Medina. A memorial book of her life is being prepared by her children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. In the fall, members of her family will accompany her ashes to the Sidon Cemetery in Rose Bud, Arkansas. Memorial remembrances may be made in her name to Heifer International, the Alzheimers Association, or the charity of ones choice.Kerrville Funeral Home of Kerrville is in charge of arrangements.
