Kerrville, Texas Enoch Joseph Authement, M.D., 75, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at his residence. Born on November 20, 1930 in Big Spring, Texas to Enoch Joseph, Sr. and Pansy Merle Stripling Authement, he lived in Odessa, TX, where he was raised.Dr. Authement graduated from Odessa High School in 1947, attended Undergraduate School, earning a BS in Medical Technology from Loyola University in New Orleans, LA, and then attended Medical School at Tulane University, also in New Orleans, LA earning his Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1956. He served in the USAF Reserve, being appointed as a Lieutenant in 1956. The appointment of Captain came in 1957 the day he finished his internship, and became active duty as a Captain in 1960. Reappointment back to the USAF Reserves came in 1961 with Honorable Discharge in August 1972. He started his Anesthesiology Practice in 1962, as a partner of Orleans Anesthesia Associates practicing his entire career at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans until his retirement in 1990.He was a very talented individual that could master most anything he that chose. He pursued photography during his entire life, specializing in travel photography and was President of the American Society of Magazine Photographers from 19961998 he was an avid horse lover of which he owned, bred, and showed many champions, and was a Lifetime Member of the American Quarter Horse Association other interests include many years in the Yacht sales business, American wild game hunting, woodworking, even to the point of crafting his own kitchen cabinets.He married his loving wife, Peggy Marie Samson on June 10, 1978, who tirelessly stood by him and cared for him during his lengthy illness. He was a born again Christian, asking Jesus to be his Lord and Savior in September 1987. Dr. and Mrs. Authement moved to Kerrville, TX in September 2002 for retirement and living the wonderful life of the Texas Hill Country, which he greatly enjoyed.Dr. Authement was preceded in death by his parents.Surviving him are his wife, Peggy Samson Authement of Kerrville, TX one sister, Judith Adams of Odessa, TX two sons, David Authement of Mandeville, LA and Noel Authement of Kenner, LA one daughter, Ginger Windom of Newport, TN grandsons, Chase Authement, Justin Authement, and Kyle Windom one niece, Shawn Stringer and nephew, Brian Cole.A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Impact Christian Fellowship, 2030 Goat Creek Road, Kerrville, TX 78028.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch, Ingram, TX.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
