Kerrville Ellen Estelle Odom, 92, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local health care facility on Tuesday evening, July 19, 2011 after a day of being surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Nixon, TX on October 11, 1918, she was the daughter of Gus A. Passmore and Alma Leila Weber Passmore.

On May 8, 19, she married Alvin E. Odom in Nixon, Texas, a union that would last 71 years.

Ellen was a telephone operator in Nixon until she and Alvin moved to Aransas Pass, Texas and opened a meat market.

After retiring, Ellen enjoyed accompanying her husband in the ranching business as she would ride along with him to check on the livestock.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband daughter, Myra Wilder and son, Alvin quotBuddyquot Odom Jr.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Jim Odom and his wife, Sandra of Kerrville daughterinlaw Jean Odom of Sinton grandchildren: Suzette Hesseltine of Sinton, Lori Gus Schreiner of Mountain Home, Todd Janee Odom of Kerrville, Mark Janice Wilder of San Antonio, Shannon Michael Brackett of Frisco, and Alec Odom of Sinton and nine greatgrandchildren: Hunter Hesseltine, Audrey Gazelle Schreiner, Blake, Connor, Maxwell Odom, and Caleb, Sarah, Jackson Wilder.

A graveside service will be at Nixon Cemetery, Nixon, Texas, on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Hilltop Village Nursing Home and suggests that donations in Ellens name be made to VistaCare Hospice.
