Elenne Woodruff

Kerrville Elenne Newby Woodruff, 95, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at a local care center in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Junction, Texas, September 19, 1909 and educated in San Antonio, Texas.Mrs. Woodruff enjoyed a long career in teaching elementary education in Junction, Austin and finally in the Dallas Independent School District, where she taught for many years in South Dallas. Following retirement in the 1970s, she moved to Kerrville.She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bevy Newby brothers, Garland Newby of Lancaster, Byron of Del Rio, Olin of San Antonio and LaRue of Junction.Surviving are her nephew, Dr. Hi Newby and wife Darlene of Arlington, TX greatnephews, Hi Eastland Newby, Jr. of Canyon, TX and Byron E. Newby of Lubbock, TX greatgreatnephew, Hi Eastland Newby, III niece, Julie Alexander along with a host of many loving friends and neighborsGraveside Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 3250 Fredericksburg Road, Kerrville, Texas, with Chaplain Sam Ligon officiating. In lieu of floral tributes, the family suggests memorials be made to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, 11450 Park Road 5, Canyon, Texas 79015, or to the charity of ones choice in Mrs. Woodruffs name.Sincere thanks go out from the family to special friends, Dora Gonzales and Alma Lopez.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
