Edwin Denny Hardy, 79, of Kerrville passed from this life at a local hospital on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. He was born in Revere, MO on July 29, 1933 to Joseph Edwin and Ruby Bell Hardy.

Denny came from a performing family of musicians. As a young man, after a stint in the Army he took his musical talent on the road. He played with the Tex Beneke Band and over the years such notables as Hank Sugarfoot Garland, The Four Freshman, Duke Ellington, and Fats Domino. More recently, he played with the Sentimental Journey Orchestra, Mike Kasberg Rhythm and Blues Review, The River Rats, Lonestar Swing Orchestra, and Guadalupe River Jazz Band, while in Kerrville, TX. While residing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana he played with the Van Broussard Band and the Bac Trac Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include children Monte Chris Hardy and wife Beverly of Prairieville, LA and Danita Kay Kerley of Denham Springs, LA six grandchildren two great grandchildren loving sister Patricia J. Bryant of Kerrville loving brother Henry Ross Hardy and wife Ruby of Scottsville, KY numerous nieces and nephews plus innumerable friends.

One of these days theres gonna be no more old folk, what a lonesome old town this will be. Childrens voices at play will be still for a day the day they take old folk away.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital or an elementary school music program of your choice.

Funeral services will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM. A celebration of his life will be held at Roddy Tree Ranch at 1:00 PM.
