nbspEdward Dick Poppe, 77, of Kerrville, Texas entered into rest on December 20, 2008 at his residence.nbspMr. Poppe was born May 18, 1931 in Strawn, Illinois to Dietrich and Anna Poppe. He served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1953 to December 1954. He and his wife Ida retired in Illinois and spent several years traveling across the country in their RV. They spent their winters in the Hill Country for fifteen years, and have been permanent residents for three years. Mr. Poppe enjoyed gardening and working in his garage workshop. He had a special talent and love of taming and handfeeding the deer in their neighborhood.nbspHe was a very helpful man who enjoyed giving his service to those in need. Mr. Poppe was a loving and devoted husband and father.nbspHe is preceded in death by a brother, sister, and stepson.nbspHe is survived by his wife, Ida Baker Poppe six children, Debbie Poppe Konwinski and husband Tim of New London, WI Rick Poppe and wife Cindy of Farmer City, IL Terry Poppe and wife Jane of LeRoy, IL Bonnie Poppe Godwin and husband Dean of Chesapeake, VA Craig Baker and wife Patty of Normal, IL and Lisa Baker Smith and husband Dan of Parker, CO two chosen daughters, Shelly Schultz of Stanford, IL and Mary Jo Johnson of Stanford, IL twenty grandchildren eleven greatgrandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.nbspMemorial services will be planned and announced at a later date. Interment will be in Illinois.
