KERRVILLE - Edward Ronald Haspany, 81, of Kerrville, Texas passed peacefully from this life on May 14, 2015 at a local care center in Kerrville. Edward was born September 24, 1933 to George and Adel (Samaha) Haspany.
Ed was born in early autumn in Detroit, Michigan. His grandparents & father came to America from Beirut, Lebanon to settle in Detroit. At the church they attended, the priest layed his hands on Ed's mother and prayed that she would give birth to a priest. Ed's parents then moved to Lansing, Michigan where his dad worked for General Motors. When Ed was in high school, he was an A student, so they allowed him to go to Bible College in Lima, New York, six months before graduation; he was the youngest student there. He was active in drama and singing on television as well as being a disc jockey on the radio.
Ed met his wife Martha, in 1950, when he and his mother attended church. Martha's parent's pastored that church. When Ed met Martha, it was love at first sight. They dated for two years while he was in seminary and were married in October of 1952. Ed served his internship doing jail ministry as well as the construction of a new church building. They then pastored their first church in Baytown, Texas. From there, they moved to a church in Forest City, Iowa and started a church with a handful of people. They built the church from the ground up. Later they moved to a church in Montevideo, Minnesota that needed a pastor. From there his ministry took him to Crockett, Texas and on to Mc Allen, Texas where they pastored for many years and built a school with 318 students. After Mc Allen, they built a Trinity Worship Center in Pharr, Texas with 1800 members, where he pastored until he retired in 1999. A big part of his life was being a father to his four children: Esther, Diane, Ron and Tim. His retirement years were spent hunting and working the land in Mountain Home, Texas. He also served as council to many pastors in the area. Ed has run the race, finished the course and is now rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior!
