KERRVILLE Edward Eugene Gene Aiken, 81, of Kerrville, Texas went to his home with Jesus on May 23, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimers disease.
Gene was born August 31, 1932 in McKinney, Texas and was raised by his parents, John W. and Cora Belle Aiken.
Gene married the love of his life, Anne Frances Aiken on June 14, 1992 in Lake City, Colorado.
Gene attended grades K12 and two years of night school in Paris, Texas. He was then hired by Humble Oil after graduation. A while later, Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army for two years were he fought in the Korean War. After returning to civilian life, Gene continued to work at Humble Oil, whose name had been changed to Exxon. He then transferred to Exxon Chemical serving the rest of his career as a Superintendent of Services. Gene lived in Lake City, Colorado then Lakeway, Texas moved to Colorado Springs and finally settled in Kerrville, Texas.
Gene was a true Texas Southern Gentleman, a loving husband and pawpaw to his extended family. He loved several things to include, fishing, hunting, dominos, and exploring the colors of the Hill Country and beyond. He loved going anywhere as long as he and Anne were together.
Gene is preceded in death by his father, John W. Aiken mother, Cora Belle Aiken twin brother, Sira Aiken brother, William Aiken and his wife, Betty J. Aiken sister, Bess Catherine Aiken and nephew Ronald Aiken.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Anne Frances Aiken brother, John W. Aiken Jr. nephew, Robert W. Aiken niece, Candy Aiken Hill and husband Steve niece, Beverly Aiken McKenty and husband John step children, Deb Morrison, Michael Schumaker, Jeffery Schumaker, and Robert Schumaker seven step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 2 PM.
