KERRVILLEMrs. Edna Martha White neeacute Wolfmueller, 94, of Kerrville, died in the comfort of a private care facility on April 28.
She was born November 19, 1916 in Karnes City, Texas to Martha Boehme and Karl Wolfmueller and raised in Kerrville. She was married for 59 years to her late husband J.W. Billy White, both alumni of Kerrvilles Schreiner Institute.
While Mrs. White would live most of her life in Kerrville, she briefly lived in New York City while her husband served in WWII. Having lived with a hearing disability since her teens, she spent this time pursuing hearingaid systems, a technology that was still in its infancy. To support herself, she worked at the NYC Post Office. After the war, Edna and Billy returned to Kerrville to raise their son. In the following decades, Mrs. White became an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kerrville, where she was a member of the churchs Circle Bible Study group, and volunteered as assistant to the churchs secretary.
She is survived by her son, Charles Kenneth Kenny White and her daughterinlaw Lorraine B. White, both of Meriden, CT. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Christopher W. White of New Haven CT, and Scott C. White of Palo Alto, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Jon and Sandy Wolfmueller, Joan Miller, and Katherine Kruse all of whom were a great comfort to her in her final years.
The family offers a special thanks to Linda Haslberger, who showed such compassion towards her, and the Vista Care Hospice for many years of care.
A Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2PM. Committal services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 10AM at Glen Rest Cemetery.
