Edith Fuhn

Edith R. Fuhn, 100, of Boerne, TX passed peacefully from this life on September 27, 2014 at a skilled nursing facility in Boerne, TX. She was born June 30, 1914 in Tarrytown, NY.

Edith graduated from New York University, where she was very active in sports and where she subsequently was admitted to their Athletic Hall of Fame. She participated in field hockey, the swim team, and was the captain of the womens basketball team for two years. After graduation, Edith worked for the County of Westchester in New York as a Social Worker. These studies were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Edith married the love of her life, Louis Fuhn, on November 26, 1937 in Pleasantville, NY. After retiring from Westchester County, she and Louis moved to Tucson, AZ to fulfill their dream of opening Casas Adobes Watch Repair and Jewelry Shop. Edith provided the business side of the team effort, as well as jewelry design and the manufacturing of custom trays from Native American handmade clay tiles.

After selling the store in 1978, Edith and Louis moved their Southwest Arts business to Kerrville, where they happily spent close to thirty years. Edith contributed to the community through her election to the Ingram School Board, and was a member of the Board of The Special Opportunities Center.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Guido and Mary Puggelli her husband, Louis Fuhn brothers, George and Joseph and her sister, Rita.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Suzanne Johnson of Genoa, NV along with many friends and extended family.
