MARSHALL Dumas F. Shelton, 86, passed from this life on June 7, 2012 at a Marshall, TX hospital. Mr. Shelton was born in Coleman, TX on September 30, 1925 to James Gilbert and Alice Lynn Curry Shelton.
He married the love of his life, Anna Roberta Henson on December 4, 1945 in Bentonville, AR. Mr. Shelton proudly served our country in the United States Army, enlisting on June 6, 1944, spending his tour of duty during WWII. Being discharged in December 18, 1946, he and Roberta embarked upon a life that they truly enjoyed together.
Mr. Shelton was a hard working man who provided for his family through what he loved, which was farming. Living in several different communities, his last farming venture was in Tokio, TX. Retiring, he and Roberta spent many years living in Plains, TX, moving to Lubbock, TX, then on to Tomball, TX, and ultimately moved to College Station to be near their son. Roberta passed on November 7, 2005, which left Dumas missing her dearly. He continued to maintain his favorite hobby of gardening and yard work, and was well known for his manicured yard. He was also a master at dominoes, and could usually tell you down to the last quotbonequot of what you had left in your hand. Mr. Shelton was a faithful member of Rock Prairie Baptist Church, rarely missing a chance to attend whatever services were taking place.
Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his parents wife, Roberta a son, Kenneth Ray Shelton grandson, J.T. Shelton brothers, Aubrey, and Henry Shelton and sister, Polly Shelton.
