Douglas Wayne Walker, 56, of Kerrville, Texas passed away on March 1, 2007 at a local hospital.Douglas was born March 1, 1951 at Bolling Air Force Base Hospital in Washington D.C. He was the son of MSGT Earl J. Walker U.S.A.F. Ret. and Dolores A. Walker McCarty. Douglas attended schools in San Antonio, Texas Amarillo, Texas and Kaiserslautern, Germany. He graduated from the American High School in Germany in 1968. When he returned to the U.S. in 1968 he joined the U.S. Army. When he finished basic training he was sent to Vietnam where he spent a year as a Radio Man in combat. He received several decorations from the U.S. Army. When he came home from Vietnam by medivac he was sent to Fort Sam Houston Hospital in San Antonio. He went to work as a draftsman and worked at several firms in San Antonio. At the time of his death, Douglas was a 100 disabled veteran. He married in 1977 and had a daughter, Brandy Lynn Walker on February 3, 1978. He was divorced in 1982, and custody of Brandy was given to her grandparents, Earl and Dolores Walker. Brandy married in September 1995 and Douglas was a part of the wedding. Douglas moved to Kerrville in 1994 where he purchased a nice house, but lived alone. He was a very likeable person with a good sense of humor and he loved his daughter and other family members. He will be missed by all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Wesley Walker.He is survived by his mother, Dolores A. WalkerMcCarty daughter, Brandy of San Antonio grandsons, Johnathen, age 11, and Logan, age 3 brother, Dale Walker of Boerne and special friend, Gaylon Moore.Graveside services with military honors will be 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
