Dorothy Skocpol, 84, of Kerrville, Texas, died on November 2, 2006, at a hospice facility in San Antonio, after a short illness. Dorothy was born on April 29, 1922, to loving parents, Walter and Maude Archer in San Angelo, Texas where she also grew up. She was an attractive girl who was a hard worker around the home, a good student and active in church activities. She grew up in a typical western atmosphere where she enjoyed outdoor life and learned domestic training, which included making the pecan pies in the world. In early adulthood, she worked as a civilian for the Air Force and also the Methodist Publishing House in Dallas. Dorothy was living in a boarding house in early 1957, where she met Emil Skocpol their relationship grew and they were married on June 8, 1957. With her marriage, she became the mother of a 13yearold girl, Keena, and an 8yearold boy, Clint. She accepted her new family whole heartedly, and her real strength of character showed through. Dorothy and Emil lived in Dallas until 1977, when they moved to San Diego, California. She enjoyed traveling, especially in their RV. When they retired in 1987, she and Emil lived in their RV for two years overall, they visited 46 states. They eventually settled in Kerrville, Texas, where they joined Zion Lutheran Church.She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters, and daughter, Keena.She is survived by her husband, Emil sister, Joy Hunt of Tyler, Texas son, Clint Skocpol and his wife Claudia of Dallas one grandchild, Kristi SkocpolSaleh and her husband Akram and one greatgrandchild, Adam.Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2006, at Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
