Kerrville Dorothy Myrtle Rogers, 96, of Kerrville, TX passed into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 1, 2008. Mrs. Rogers was born June 13, 1911, in Crystal City, TX to George Washington and Myrtle Cragg McLoughlin. Mrs. Rogers was a true lady of her time who enjoyed a number of things which included cooking, quilting, and crocheting. She had a passion for flowers, which led to her love of gardening as well. Her family was her life, as she took care of them endlessly. The care for others is what led to her early retirement, for which she spent her time caring for her mother and brother. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Kerrville, and she loved the Texas Hill Country to no end.She was a Civil Service employee of the United States Air Force, first working in Orange, TX at the ship yards as a welding supervisor building ships which were being used during WWII. She made the bus trip daily from Lake Charles, LA as a faithful employee. She later transferred to Del Rio, TX where she worked at Laughlin AFB repairing parachutes. She received many honors and commendations for efforts and work for the Air Force.Mrs. Rogers is preceded in death by her husband, William Louis Rogers, her parents, a daughter, Bobbie Rogers Thompson, a son, William Louis Rogers, Jr., two grandchildren and one greatgrandson.Survivors include her daughters, Martha Hatt of Dallas, TX, and Nell Guyton of Dallas, TX brothers, Alvin McLoughlin and Betty of Abilene, TX, Melvin McLoughlin of Kerrville, TX sister, Ada McLoughlin Ford and Russ of Spring Branch, TX grandchildren, Lee Rogers and Becky of Kerrville, TX, Linda Frost and Jack of Adkins, TX, Larry Conilogue and Mary of Kissimmee, FL, Angie Leffingwell and John of Dallas, TX, John Mills of Houston, TX, Ruth Miller and Wilburt of Beaumont, TX, Sgt. J.R. Thompson, U S Army, and Billie of Iraq, Vicki Brickler of Dallas, TX, Jeffry Guyton of Dallas, TX, Daniel Guyton of Dallas, TX numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchild along with a host of many loving friends and church family.Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028 with Rev. Russell Page, Assoc. Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, TX. Viewing will be held prior to service in the Chapel.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Medina Childrens Home, 21300 State Highway 16N, Medina, TX 780553808.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
