Dorothy Rhodes

AMARILLO Dorothy Mae Robinson Rhodes, 84, of Amarillo, TX passed from this life to spend an eternity in Heaven with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in an Amarillo, TX care center after a sudden illness. She was born on August 30, 1930 in Sparenberg, TX to parents, Albert D. and Ella Mae Williamson Robinson.

Dorothy grew up in a loving home, being taught the value of love, family, and good work ethics. Having four siblings, there was never a dull moment. They were brought up to believe in the Lord, serve in the Church, and know that one day the family will be complete again in Heaven.

She married her husband, J. Deane Rhodes on July 30, 1966 in Brownfield, TX. She worked for many years in accounting for various companies. They spent a number of years in Casper, WY, where work took them, but eventually made it back to Texas where they called home and retired. She was a member of the Northside United Pentecostal Church where she served as Church Secretary for a number of years, and was well known for her skills in teaching Sunday school.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband along with her sister, Coletha Dominy.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her sisters, Louise Monks and Joyce Tracy brother, Albert D. Robinson, Jr. a host of nieces and nephews, along with her church family of which she loved dearly.

A time of reflection and visitation will be held from 6 8 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Northside United Pentecostal Church, 2424 North Mirror, Amarillo, TX 79107. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 3, 2014 also at Northside United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Rodger Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at Fulton Cemetery, Walnut Springs, TX at 11 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2014.
