Dorothy Mahaffey

Dorothy Eloise Wied Mahaffey, 91, of Kerrville, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.

Ms. Mahaffey was born August 9, 1920 in Gonzales, Texas, the daughter of Elo and Meta Henke Wied. She married John Drayton Mahaffey and had lived in Kerrville for many years.

Ms. Mahaffey was a member of River Hills Country Club where she loved to play golf and was very active in several bridge clubs and supper clubs. She loved to travel, but her favorite spot was the Hill Country, mainly Kerrville. Ms. Mahaffey was a very giving person and always had a smile to share with people.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are a son, John Mahaffey, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of The Woodlands, TX one grandson, John Drayton Mahaffey III of Center, Massachusetts and a granddaughter, Meagan Mahaffey of San Antonio, TX.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sam Ligon officiating. The family will have a private interment at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Kerrville.

The family suggests that a memorial in her name to The American Cancer Society, 8115 Datapoint Drive, San Antonio, TX 78229 or The Salvation Army, 855 Hays Street, Kerrville, TX 78028.
