Kerrville, TX Dorothy Morrogh Edgar, 93, a native of Beaumont, TX and longtime resident of Houston, passed from this life on June 10, 2009 at her home in Kerrville.
Dorothy was born on July 12, 1915 in Beaumont to Frank Anthony and Mary Celise Fannett Morrogh, in the family home on Corley Ave. Dorothy was the youngest and only granddaughter of Joseph and Victoria Odem Fannett, who settled the area around Fannett, TX. She graduated from South Park high School.
From 1933 to 1938, she flew out of Beaumont Airport with a group of licensed women pilots called the Wingover Club.
In 1935, she married B.F.W. Edgar II.
From 1955 to 1963, she worked in the Texaco Research Lab in Bellaire, TX. In 1968, Dorothy started working for the Episcopal Church Diocese of TX as secretary to Bishop J. Milton Richardson and succeeding bishops until her retirement in 1992.
She was a world traveler, especially enjoying Hawaii, the South Pacific, the Orient and China.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann Edgar Schneider of Kerrville her son Christopher quotKitquotH. Edgar II, and his wife Margaret, of League City, TX grandchildren, Celise Schneider Rickrode and husband Edward, of Erie, PA, and Christopher H. Edgar III and his wife, Chikako, of League City and great grandchildren, Edward Rickrode of Erie, PA and Sho, Kia and Kyo Edgar all of League City.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 2:00PM at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, TX. In lieu of a memorial service, the family asks clergy and laity that knew Dorothy to remember her in special Prayers of the Congregation on Sunday, July 12, her 94TH birthday.
