Dorice Ysleta Swearingen Watts, age 89, of Mason, Texas and formerly of San Antonio and of Kerrville, Texas, passed away December 15, 2017. Dorice was born on June 7, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas, to Samuel C. Swearingen and Gertrude Barclay Swearingen. She married the love of her life, Jack Edwin Watts, on November 29, 1947 in San Antonio, where they raised their three children. Dorice worked for many years as the office administrator for DPD Manufacturing Company. She was an active and long-time member of Manor Baptist Church. In 1982, Dorice and Jack retired and moved to Kerrville. Considering herself too young to retire, Dorice went to work for Schreiner Bank. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Doe Doe, as the grandchildren called her, had many hobbies, her favorites being sewing, making and collecting dolls, and always, ALWAYS taking lots of pictures. While cooking was not at the top of her list, she did make a mean green Jell-O salad and pancakes for the grandchildren in animal shapes.
In 2014, now a widow, Dorice moved to Mason, Texas to be nearer her daughter, Trudy.
Dorice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Carolyn Watts of Boise, Idaho and daughter and son-in-law Trudy and Jess Irwin of Mason, Texas. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and their spouses, Siri Watts Wilkinson (Bill) of Roanoke, Alabama, Desiny Irwin Villarreal (John) of Austin, Sarah Irwin Swanson (Christopher) of Austin, Matt Irwin (Elizabeth) of Asheville, NC, Jason Marsh of Chillicothe, TX, Jordan Marsh (Amber) of Vernon, Jonathan Marsh (Angie) of Richmond Hill, GA, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a brother, Wayne B. Swearingen (Barbara) of Dallas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, a daughter Beverly Watts Marsh, and a brother Ralph Swearingen.
A memorial service to honor Dorice will be held on Saturday, January 20, 1:00PM, at First United Methodist Church of Mason Texas.
