Donald Donnie Norman Marshall, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, went to be with the Lord March 27, 2005. He was born May 19, 1929, in Streator, Illinois to Harold Ashley and Bonnie Marshall.He moved to South Texas when he was 13 where he went to school and worked on the family chicken farm. When he turned 16, Donnie joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country in World War II and the Korean War. After being discharged, he worked as a truck driver and in the oilfield before retiring to enjoy his favorite pastime, gardening and farming animals.In 1960, he married his wife of 44 years, Helen, in the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon retiring, they moved and settled in Carrizo Springs, Texas.He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Ashley Marshall and his stepson, Robert Dale Mooney.He is survived by his wife, Helen Marshall daughters Rhonda Link of Kerrville and Pam Greene Tim of Marble Falls mother, Bonnie Marshall of Weslaco sisters, Marlene Davis Roy of Weslaco and Darlene Mauldin Billy of Austin brother, Loren Marshall Kristen of Blanco grandchildren, Kristy, JR, DJ, Dustin, Destiny greatgrandchildren, Robert, Israel, Hailey and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery immediately following. Pastor Warren Hornung, of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville will be officiating.In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Donnies honor to Vista Care Hospice or the church or charity of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
