Kerrville Don A. Casteel, 78, of Ingram, passed from this life at a local health care facility on March 12, 2011.
Born in Columbus, OH on January 2, 1933, he was the son of Albert and Marie Putnam Casteel.
Mr. Casteel was a graduate of Ohio State and then received his Masters Degree in Meteorology from Texas AM.
He joined the US Air Force and served 20 years as a pilot and meteorologist, retiring as Lt. Col. Casteel. He was a founding member of the AFA of Kerrville the Air Force Association.
Once retired, he enjoyed volunteering as a bus driver for senior centers, teaching square dancing and preparing taxes for people.
He also enjoyed working with his hands, building his home that he and his wife, Elaine, shared.
Mr. Casteel is predeceased by his parents.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Elaine Peplinski Casteel of Ingram a sister, Dorothy Casteel Pemberton of Columbus, OH and nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Society of Kerrville, Loma Vista Dr, Kerrville, on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 10AM. Committal will be private.
The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Universalist Unitarian Society or to a local animal shelter.
