Dick Smith, 61, of Kerrville, Texas entered into rest on March 26, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.Dick was born May 25, 1945 in Winchester, Indiana to James Richard Parker and Mary Ann Smith. He graduated from the University of Texas remained a loyal Longhorn fan and was a lifetime member of the former student association. He served his country during Vietnam where he was a fighter pilot for the United States Marine Corps serving in Okinawa, Japan, Vietnam, and the United States. He held numerous corporate flying positions before being hired by Southwest Airlines, and retired as a Captain on May 25, 2005 his 60th birthday. He was a member of the Southwest Airline Golden Eagles Organization, a retired Captains club. He married Judy WebbSmith on December 31, 1982 in Galveston, Texas after living in League City for over 20 years they moved to Kerrville in May of 2005 where they joined St. Peters Episcopal Church. Dick was preceded in death by his biological father, James Richard Parker, and his adoptive father, James W. Smith.He is survived by his loving wife, Judy WebbSmith mother and stepfather, Mary Ann Smith and Thomas R. Smith of Kerrville, Texas son, James Richard Smith, Jr. and wife Stacy BennettSmith of Bessemer, Alabama grandson, Nicholas BennettSmith of Bessemer, Alabama two sisters, Suzi Warzecha and husband Newton of Goliad, Texas Becky White and husband Bill of Kerrville, Texas and brother, Hut Smith and wife Theresa of Houston, Texas.ation will be 57:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2007 at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Kerrville with Rev. Stockton Williams and Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Riverhill Country Clubs Antelope Room immediately following all services.Pallbearers will be Paul Brooks Gilmore, Jack Tate, Todd Fox, Tyler Smith, Trevor Smith, Eric Stoltz, Rob Morrell, and Jerome Bourgeois.
