FredericksburgDena E. Hochhalter, age 79, passed away November 28, 2005 at a local hospital.Dena E. Sprecher was born on May 5, 1926 in Elgin, North Dakota, the daughter of Ben and Katherine Rivinus Sprecher. She was raised and educated in Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School in 1943.Dena taught school in Grant County for one and a half years prior to her marriage to Otto V. Hochhalter on March 24, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Elgin. The Hochhalters farmed south of New Leipzig, North Dakota until 1960. They owned and operated the grocery store in new Leipzig from 1960 to 1968. In 1971 they moved into Dickinson, where they owned and operated the Exxon Bulk Dealership until 1979. Over the next 10 years, Dena worked as a bookkeeper at various jobs, such as White Drug, Jerrys Furniture and the K of C Club, retiring in 1988.Dena was an avid bowler, having attended Nationals 26 times and State 34 times. She was a North Dakota Bowling Association Director for 19 years. She loved to travel and winter in Kerrville, Texas. She recently was inducted into the North Dakota Bowlers Hall of Fame. Dena is survived by her husband, Otto 2 daughters, Diane Jerry Hoffman, New Leipzig, and Donna Steve Felkner, Sanger, Texas 2 sons, Daryl Brenda, Post Falls, Idaho, and Dean Randi of Dickinson, North Dakota 2 sisters, Delores Ackerman, Dickinson, and Mildred Pat Mulivhill, Salix, Iowa 2 brothers, Arthur Thelma Sprecher, Rowlett, Texas, and Melvin Ora Sprecher, Garland, Texas 10 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Harold, and wife Sabina.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Kerrville Funeral Home with visitation, Thursday, December 1, 2005 from 5 to 7 p.m. The family invites you to leave a message or memory at www.kerrvillefuneralhome.com by selecting obituaries and sign the guestbook.
