Delbert Clayton Lemons, 83, passed away September 25th, 2006, at an area health care facility.Del was born Oct 9, 1922 in Vian, Oklahoma. He was a patriot, oilman, private pilot, world traveler, Mason and avid golfer.After graduating from high school, he joined his father in the oilfields of Oklahoma, and went on to start his own ional drilling company. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force, 126th AACS Squadron 4th Wing, during the CBI campaign. When the war ended, he returned to the oilfield, and traveled to many overseas countries, eventually settling in the United Kingdom, where he met and married the love of his life Mary. During their stay in Scotland, Del grasped the opportunity to play many of the world famous golf courses, improving his handicap as he went, and taking many a penny from his unsuspecting opponents Del and Mary moved to Fredericksburg in 1993 to enjoy their retirement.Del is survived by his wife Mary sons, Rick and Phillip daughters, Cheryl and Julie stepson, Martin seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dels name to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research, or to the Organ Donor Program.A service to celebrate Dels life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Thompson Drive, Kerrville, Texas, on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 2:00 p.m.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
