Kerrville David Wayne Rhodes, 67, of Kerrville, passed from this life to be with the Lord on June 22, 2011.
Born in Velasco, TX on February 2, 1944, he was the son of Herman and Elizabeth Kossa Rhodes. He grew up in Rosenberg and attended Lamar High School. After high school he attended the University of Texas and remained a Loyal Lifetime member of TexasExs all of his life. His dog was even named Bevo.
He served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.
For many years, he served as the Postmaster of the Sealy, TX Post Office.
After his retirement, he and his wife, Gail, traveled the United States and Canada in an RV. He truly enjoyed that and even served as President of the WexTex, an RV club. After 4 years of fulltiming in the motorhome, he and Gail settled in Kerrville, TX. While here, he served as treasurer of the Vicksburg Homeowners Association, was an alumni of the Kerrville Citizens Police Academy, and belonged to N.A.R.F.E., a federal employees organization.
He is predeceased by his parents.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife, Gail Rhodes of Kerrville his daughter, Samantha Ginn and her husband, Michael, of Frisco, TX his stepson, Brandon Nelson and his wife, Gina, of Richmond, TX a grandson, Laith of Richmond, TX and many cousins and their families.
There will be no visitation.
A celebration of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11AM.
The family suggests that donations be made to caringbridge.org, which helpd families and friends through difficult times.
