David McGilvray

 David McGilvray, 69, of Utopia passed from this life on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at his residence.

He was born April 25, 1953 in Edinburg, TX to parents Bobby J McGilvray and Norma June Custer. He grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. David started off early in Law Enforcement and served for McAllen Police Department and Bandera Sheriffs Department for a combined 40+ years. David loved hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family. David loved taking his kids on road trips and camping when they were younger. David took up a lifelong hobby of reloading bullets to accompany his love of hunting. David was a loving father to 7 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Norma Custar McGilvray; sister Nancy and his son Joseph McGilvray.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children Jeaton, Kathy, John, Stephanie, Shawna, and Jesse. Along with 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. David is also survived by his siblings Linda, Timmy, Tommy, Micky, and Bobby.

David will later be laid to rest with his son at the ST. Stanislaus Cemetery in Bandera TX.

A visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Kerrville Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Bass of Hosana Lutheran officiating the service.
