Hunt, TX Darlene Mae Maust reunited with loved ones on Saturday, July 25, 2009. She was born on May 5, 1926 in Lindsay, California. Darlene was the daughter of Samuel Glenn and Anna Marie Maust.
She followed her passion for nursing until she met her true love, Dr. Edward Grothaus, peeking over her shoulder at medical charts in Sacramento General. They were married September 22, 1951, the start of a long and loving relationship. Ed passed away on November 19, 1986. We rejoice that they are back together before our Lord.
Like St. Francis, she found happiness in taking care of her deer, surpassed only in her dedication to the promotion of peace and love within her large family. She was truly a wellspring of life and gave of herself generously. Mother loved dancing and music, and moreover, teaching her children the valuable lessons of life to love and share. All around her learned to love nature as much as she did.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, her father Sam, mother Marie, brother Jim and motherinlaw quotNanaquot. She was a devout member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and loved our Lord intrinsically.
Darlene is survived by her children Linda, Maureen, Sandy, Ed, Lisa, Michael, Robin, and Mark her grandchildren, Jeff, Cindy, Kim, Robin, Christopher, Matthew, Casey, Ben, Erin, Charlie, Tania, Toni, Gina, Ryan, Jessica, Nikki, Raymond, Eddie, Sam, Anna, Amy, Mary Rose, Oakley, Delaney Mae, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Sarah, John, and Vincent and her great grandchildren, Canyon Rain, Sol Fire, Andrew, Giovanni, Hugo, Bannon, and Hyde. She cared for, and provided safe shelter to many other children throughout her years
She will be missed greatly by her brother Bob and sisterinlaw Peg, brotherinlaw Father Bob and sisterinlaw Lolita, Uncle Virg and Aunt Val, and nieces Jenny and Debbie.
Special Blessings should be ed to Darlenes caretakers Hermelinda, Judy, Molly, Elizabeth, Rhonda, Ginny and the countless others who brought comfort and peace to our Mother in her final days.
Much Love and appreciation to her daughter Lisa and soninlaw Jim, who selflessly and faithfully cared for Mom. They attended to Moms every need with tenderness and devotion.
