Dan Gatewood

Kerrville Daniel Dan Gatewood, 61, of Kerrville, TX passed peacefully doing what he loved, playing golf, on Sunday, June 3, 2007. He was born on April 29, 1946 to Robert L. and Mabel A. Price Gatewood in Lebanon, IN.Dan faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 1968. His career as a pilot spanned from 1971 1991, where he held the position of Corporate Pilot for Parker Drilling of Tulsa, OK. Upon his retirement from the air, Dan became a very well known Sales Representative in the automotive business, and was a permanent fixture at Cecil Atkission Motors.He also was very active in the community. He served in many volunteer positions, but was most well known for his work in the Hill Country Home Builders Association and he was a very active member of the Kerrville Host Lions Club. Dan was widely known as being instrumental in making the Host Lions Club Annual Golf Tournament the success that it had become.Dan never met a stranger, always had a smile, and could only talk positive about anyone who came to mind. He will be missed by all who knew him, and will never be forgotten by those who loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Brenda.Dan is survived by his friend, Barbara Gaither of Kerrville, TX brother, Aaron Eugene Gatewood of Indiana sons, Sean Robert Gatewood of England and Brent Aaron Gatewood of Oklahoma City, OK daughter, Mitzi Danielle Gatewood of Oklahoma City, OK Stepson, William John Garrett of Kerrville, TX stepdaughter, Tiffany Ann Garrett of San Antonio, TX his family at Cecil Atkission Motors, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 4 PM in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Bro. Frankie Enloe officiating. Open visitation will be available all day Tuesday, June 5, 2007 and until 12 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2007. In lieu of floral tributes, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Texas Lions Camp, P.O. Box 290247, Kerrville, TX 78029.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
