Kerrville Damon Crawford Lewis, 84, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life at a care center on Sunday, December 22, 2003. He was born in Menard, Texas on October 24, 1919 to the late J.C. Jim and Lottie Jones Lewis.After growing up in Menard, Texas, Mr. Lewis married the love of his life, Gwendolyne Brummett on June 29, 1940. They moved to Junction, Texas in 1942 and lived there until 1999 at which time they moved to Burnet, Texas. In June of 2002 they made their home in Kerrville, Texas. Mrs. Lewis passed away in January 2003.Mr. Lewis served in the United States Army from 19441946 during WWII. He served as a Staff Sgt. and was Honorably Discharged. Mr. Lewis owned and operated a service station that he bought in 1950. He also owned and operated a clothing store for many years. He was very fond of painting and had many oil paintings to his credit.Mr. Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years Gwendolyne, a daughter, Donna Karen Dechert, three brothers and one sister.Survived by his brother, Daniel Lewis sisters, Jean Seals, May Dean Mooring, and Maxine Willie Lewis his son, Rod Lewis of Huntsville, AR soninlaw, Jerry Dechert of Canyon Lake, TX grandchildren, Deanna Powers of Austin, TX, Tracy Lewis of Huntsville, AR, Kristi Giles of Houston, TX, Nicki Carlson of Kerrville, TX, and Mitchell Lewis of Arkansas six greatgrandchildren, and one greatgreatgrandchild.A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Warren Hornung, Minister of First United Methodist Church, Kerrville, TX officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
