Cynthia Ellis King, 71, of Kerrville went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2019 at hospital in San Antonio.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, officiated by Pastor David E. Payne. Interment at Glenrest Cemetery.
Cindy was born in Uvalde, Texas on January 31, 1948 to Marie E. Thompson Ellis and Bennie Vall Ellis. Cindy grew up in Uvalde and moved with the family to Kerrville in 1964. She was a graduate of Tivy High School and Texas Tech University. Cindy taught school for 32 years in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. She married Robert D. King on March 22, 1980, and they retired to Kerrville in 2006.
After retiring from teaching, Cindy served as historian for the Kerrville chapter of PEO, an international philanthropic educational organization dedicated to bringing women increased opportunities for higher education. Cindy was adept at pen and ink drawing and loved reading and gatherings with friends and family. She was well-loved by all who knew her.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Val and Marie Ellis; a sister, Kay Ellis; her grandparents, Robert L. and Jimmie Thompson of Uvalde, and Pink and Irene Ellis of Thornton, Texas; a cousin, Robert L. Thompson, III; as well as several aunts and uncles.
Cindy is survived by husband, Robert D. King; sister, Jan Abert and husband, Dennis; brother Dan Ellis and wife, Pam; stepsons, Rick and Robbie King; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews whom she considered her children.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PEO, Hospice of Kerrville, or the charity of your choice.
