Connie Gauna Williams was born in San Antonio, Texas February 1, 1922 to Pablo and Cruz Arredondo. She died peacefully in her home on June 2, 2022 surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Domingo Gauna, father of her children, and her second husband, Bill Williams. She and husband, Domingo Gauna, had eleven children (9 daughters and 2 sons).
As a mom she stayed very busy running her household and helping her husband, Domingo, at the family’s Gulf Service Station. Connie attended Schreiner Institute to obtain nurse assistant certification. She worked at Peterson Hospital and later did private nursing care. Her community service included volunteering at the Dietert Center. With her entrepreneurial savvy Connie developed a thriving Avon clientele and owned and operated a food trailer business.
Her zest for adventure and travel never diminished. Connie and second husband, Bill Williams, travelled extensively in his 18-wheeler. She obtained a commercial license and occasionally drove the 18-wheeler. They travelled in their RV to New Mexico, Nevada and throughout. Her many passions included cooking, sewing, gardening, canning fruits/vegetables, dancing, and travelling. Talk about gutsy, at the age of 85 she rode a motorcycle with her son-in-law, Joe Pacheco of Austin. As late as 95 years of age Connie continued her passion for travel and adventure by riding the bus to Coushatta Casino in Kinder, Louisiana with her friends.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her children, Linda Cantu (Saul), Angie Borja Montenegro (Arturo), Gilbert Gauna (Toney), Rachel Garcia (Rudy), Mary Pacheco (Joe), Helen Ayala (Richard), Chris Valero (Alfred), Cindy Delgadillo (Gino), Delia Garza, and Lisa Trevino (Michael), 31 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 22 great, great grandchildren.
Special thanks to caregivers Priscilla Davis-Hobus and Estella Trevino and the staff at Peterson Healthcare and Hospice.
