Kerrville Clyde Jones, 92, former owner of radio station KERV and wellknown bluegrass musician, passed way early Monday at a local nursing home. He was born December 1, 1914, in Sulphur Springs his parents were Will and Bessie Jones. He graduated from Buckner Home Academy in Dallas in 1935, and he was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife Bernadette Wagner Jones, whom he married January 5, 1941, at St. Cecelias Church in San Antonio.Mr. Jones is also survived by three sons and their wives: Elton and Patsy Jones of Alcoa, TN, Melvin and Louise Jones of Richardson, and Preston and Pam Jones of San Antonio. Also, five grandchildren: Allan, Bryan, Christopher, Justin and Jordan, and five greatgrandchildren: Alex, Lauryn, Devon, Gareth and Brianna.He was employed by KERV as Chief Engineer and morning announcer from 1950 until 1969 he was an owner during the last 12 years. He also participated as an announcer on Tivy High School sports broadcasts during his years in radio. He was a founding member of the Poverty Playboys bluegrass band.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hill Country Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 67, Ingram, TX 78025 and to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, TX 78028 in memory of Clyde Jones.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
