CLIFFORD BOYD TUCKER BOREN, passed to be with our Lord, on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Retama Manor Nursing Center in Pleasanton, Texas. He was 75 year of age.
Cliff was born to Edmund Earl Tucker and Winifred Harrell Tucker on March 9, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas. Cliff tragically lost his father in 1954. His mother, Winifred, later married Paul G. Boren, a former medic stationed in San Antonio. They relocated to Oklahoma City, where Paul Boren attended the Oklahoma University Medical School, after which they moved to Dallas to begin his medical practice in 1962-63. Cliff noted many times, that he couldn't have had a more loving step-dad, who later adopted him. Cliff graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City.
He later attended Abilene Christian College prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1966. He became an Air Traffic Controller, stationed at Randolph Air Force Base. He married fiance, Carol Jane Moore, on August 13, 1966, whom he met soon after arriving in Dallas. Cliff remained at Randolph Air Force base until his discharge in 1970.
Life took a change in course. Cliff began a new life and married Linda Kay Bacus, also of Dallas, on June 6, 1970. Cliff had continued his education while in Dallas and received a Bachelor Degree from UT Arlington. He and Linda moved to Corpus Christi in 1974, where Cliff served as an Air Traffic Controller for the FAA until 1981. It was there that they met their dear friends, Cal and Brenda Jennings, who attended the same church. They all became more like family. As time came to pass, often with Cal and Cliff more like brothers, and Linda and Brenda, more like sisters. While in Corpus, they became the proud parents of Jeffery Paul Boren, and later, Melissa Ann Boren.
After the discharge of over 11,000 Air Traffic Controllers in 1981, Cliff worked for a dear Church of Christ member, Charlie Dodd, of Corpus Christi. After several years, he decided he would like to try teaching. He had moved his family to Kerrville, Texas in 1986. He applied for and was hired as the Lead Teacher in the first ever established Disciplinary Alternative School for the Kerrville !SD, which included a co-op with Bandera, Center Point and Ingram ISDs. Cliff later achieved his Master Degree in School Administration at Sul Ross University. Soon after, he was hired as Vice Principal at Tivy Upper Elementary in Kerrville, where he served for many years. Sadly, Linda passed away in 2002.
The principal, Buck Thompson, and Cliff moved to their new, respective positions when Tally Elementary opened that same year. Cliff and Buck maintained a professional and personal friendship over many years, including until Cliffs passing this May 24th.
Those left to honor his passing are his wife, (reunited 11/10/2011), Carol Jane Boren of San Antonio, TX, where they moved in May 2018. Also his son, Jeffrey Paul Boren of Kerrville, daughter Melissa Boren Tipton, and husband Jason, and grandson, Ryder Lee, of Merkel, Texas. He also leaves behind many dear friends that include Norman and Helen Christian, Duncanville, Texas; Cal and Brenda Jennings, Corpus Christi, Texas; many colleagues, and former sister-in-law, Sandra Rowland of Mabank, Texas, as well as dear cousins, nieces and nephews of each the Harrell and Boren families.
