KERRVILLE Ms. Clara Belle Reither, 79, passed from this life on Saturday, December 1, 2012 in Kerrville, TX. Ms. Reither was born on March 15, 1933, in Marble Falls, TX to Elza Scott Dickerson and Clara Lee Holmes Dickerson. On March 12, 1952 she married Mr. George R. Reither.
Ms. Reither is preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her son, Albert Scott Reither and daughter, Linda Catherine Ramage.
Those left to celebrate Ms. Reithers life and mourn her passing include her daughters, Betty Leanne Reither of Pflugerville, TX, Vicki Jannelle Poage of Liberty Hill, TX, Clara Sue Reither of Mountain Home, TX son, Daniel Lloyd Reither of Kerrville, TX. Ms. Reither had nine grandchildren, fifteen greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is likewise survived by her elder sister, Mary Angerstien of Kemp, TX and younger sister Bettie Jo Day of San Antonio, TX.
Clara began working at the age of 16 as a telephone operator in Marble Falls. Many years later she managed an answering service in Austin where she was featured in the American Statesman as quotThe Smiling Voice.quot After moving to Kerrville in 1976, she worked as an auditor for the Kerrville Bus Company and later worked for many years in hospitality services at the YO Ranch Hotel.
She was active in the Baptist Church all of her life. She taught Sunday school to multitudes of children and became lovingly referred to as quotNanny.quot She loved gospel music and family quotsingings.quot She was an avid reader and a wordgame enthusiast. She enjoyed sewing and crochet and leaves her family and loved ones with numerous heirlooms that will be treasured for generations.
Besides loving and serving the Lord, Clara loved people and everyone that knew her returned that love. She was nonjudgmental, she saw the potential in everyone, and was accepting of ALL that she encountered throughout her life. Her family wishes to convey that they are certain that she is now in the company of Jesus, the angels, and is with all of the family and friends that have preceded her and is waiting for a far greater reunion that is coming soon. quotHer life exemplified that of a virtuous woman who spoke with wisdom and in her words was the law of kindness. She indeed feared the Lord, therefore she is praised and her children call her blessed.quot
Memorials may be made to Living Tree Baptist Church in Ingram, TX, to Breast Cancer Awareness, or to the American Heart Association.
A ation will be held from 5 7 PM, Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Kerrville Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Jeffers officiating. Interment will follow at Turtle Creek Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
