Charlie L. Dugosh, 91, of Kerrville, Texas departed from this life on April 10, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Kerrville. He was born July 17, 1923, in Bandera, Texas, to parents, Cleofus M. Dugosh and Mary Elsworth Dugosh.
Charlie enlisted in the Army Air Corp on November 10, 1942 and proudly served in WWII obtaining the rank of Tech Sergeant. He bailed out on April 1, 1944 and was imprisoned at Staleg 17B in Krems, Austria for 13 months until the war ended, at which time Charlie received the Purple Heart medal.
After WWII ended, Charlie attended Aviation school in Dallas, Texas where he met his future wife. He married Barbara Stoughton on April 24, 1948 in Dallas. They eventually moved back to the Hill Country where he established, owned and operated Dugosh Aircraft, Inc. until his retirement.
Charlie was a proud American who believed in his country. He had unwavering faith in God, and his word was his bond. It was said that his word was better than any signature on a piece of paper could ever hold.
Charlie was preceded in death by both parents; wife, Barbara Dugosh; brother, JC Dugosh; daughter, Kitty Dugosh Kramer; and son-in-law, Ronald Hathaway.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughters, Christine Shotts and husband Jeffrey, and Charlene Hathaway; 5 grandsons, Matthew Simpson and wife Stephanie, Gary Simpson and wife Emily, Cory Simpson and fiancé Jennifer Terry, Christopher Hathaway, and Charlie Hathaway and wife Kelly; along with many other extended family members, friends, neighbors, his church family, and last but not least, his VA family who will all miss him dearly.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Veterans Administration staff in Kerrville for all the personal care and concern they extended to Charlie through the years he was under their care.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary and a time of visitation and reflection will be held Monday, April 20, 2015 at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas 78028 with the Rosary starting at 6 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Sanctuary of Notre Dame Catholic Church. Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, Texas.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family has expressed a desire for memorial contributions to be forwarded to the Kerrville Pregnancy Resource Center, (P.O. Box 291832) 704 Jefferson Street, Kerrville, Texas 78028
