Kerrville Charles Clifford Mitchell, a resident of Hunt for ten years, died Monday, April 10th. Cliff was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 1, 1921 to Charles Clifford Mitchell, Sr. and Josephine Axtell Mitchell, who preceded him in death. His brother, Fred, also preceded him in death.He married Geraldyne Mae Apple on November 3, 1943. She died in May of 1988. Their daughter, Marta Mitchell Strait, was born August 9, 1944. She resides in New Hope, Pennsylvania. His two grandsons, Alexander and Theodore, also live in the Pennsylvania area.His three surviving cousins are Texas Residents. Robert Bob Vaden and his wife Trudy live in Hunt. Stewart Mitchell and his wife Marian live in Dallas. Ann Cunningham and her husband Ben live in Wichita Falls.He married Juanita Coiner Mitchell in 1996 and they moved to the Hunt area. Her children are Richard H. Hank Coiner and his wife Carol of Miami, Oklahoma and Nancy Coiner and her husband Michael Ponsor of Amherst, Massachusetts. Michaels children are Anne Ponsor and Joseph Ponsor.Cliff graduated from Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth and then attended Texas AM University. He was a member of the class of 44 which was inducted as a unit in the Army during WWII. He served in the Pacific theater and was assigned to early occupation forces in Japan at the end of the war. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain. Upon his return to the United States, he completed his degree at Texas AM and worked for a period in aeronautical engineering. He then completed a masters degree in International Marketing at Thunderbird School in Arizona.He held positions in numerous locations throughout the United States serving primarily as an international representative in Latin America. His most recent position was Vice President of Marketing for Midwestern Machinery in Joplin, Missouri.He was a member of Hunt United Methodist Church, where a Memorial Service will be held on April 13, 2006 at 11 AM.
