Kerrville Captain Ret. Charles A. Bullock passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008 at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville, TX. He was born on September 1, 1935 in Shepherd, TX to Leonard and Effie Bullock.He was a graduate of Aldine High School and the University of Houston. After serving his nation for four years in the United States Air Force Honor Guard, he and his wife, Leona Bullock, returned to Houston where he began a career as an officer with the Houston Police Department in 1959. Charles retired in 2002 as a Captain of the Houston Police Department after serving the City of Houston for 43 years. During his service to the city of Houston, Captain Bullock helped start SWAT, Police Bike Patrol and the Weed and Seed program. According to the Fondren Citizens Advisory Council, Captain Bullock was a communityminded Captain who played an integral role in the revitalization of the Fondren area of southwest Houston.Together, Charles and Leona raised four children sons, Charles A. Bullock, Jr. and Matthew A. Bullock wife, Alisa daughters, Catherine E. Keith husband, Rob and Lisa F. Land husband, Richard. Captain Bullock Papa was blessed with nine wonderful grandchildren Leigh husband Kyle, Jason wife, Heather, Candice, Chase wife, Casey, Hunter, Barrett, Brandon, Wendi and Jenny. Papa was also blessed with five beautiful greatgrandchildren Kate, Asher, Hayden, Cohen and Logan. All of whom adored and were adored by their Papa. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren, Captain Bullock is survived by his brother, Weldon Bullock and sisters, Polly Ream and Dolly Price.He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Patsy Perry and Dorothy Anderson.Captain Bullock will be missed by all that knew him, particularly the love of his life, his devoted and cherished wife of 53 years, Leona. The Captain and his wife loved to travel, play cards with family and friends, and most of all, honor God. The family thanks the staff at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital for providing such great care and comfort to the Captain and his wife.
