KERRVILLE - Charl W. Willis, 64, of Hunt, TX passed from this life on August 20, 2015 at his home in Hunt, TX. Charl was born March 28, 1951 in South Africa to Fredrick R. Willis and Hanna E. VanHeerdon.
Charl came to the United States from South Africa in 1982. He worked hard and had his ups and downs like most people but eventually he became a United States citizen on November 12, 2002. In 2012, he moved to Hunt, TX and bought a home while getting a job at Home Depot. Out of all the jobs had in the United States he loved working there the most. When he got sick with ALS in 2014, Home Depot stepped up and continued to let him work until he was unable to anymore. Home Depot even cared for him throughout his sickness. Home Depot and Charl's family and friends helped him keep up the work on his home and cared for him with all the love and time they could give. Charl never lost his smile and I guess you could say he found his American Dream.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Hanna Willis.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Sue Willis; sisters, Oliva Savile, Deborah F. Lewis; sons, Sean Willis and wife Heather, Leonard Embry and wife Erin, Kenneth Embry and wife Jessica, Jimmy Embry and wife Jenny; daughter, Jennifer Embry; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A visitation and time of reflection will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 3-5 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway Kerrville, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the ALS Foundation Texas Chapter.
