Kerrville- Cecil Vernon Wellborn, 90, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, in Kerrville, Texas. Cecil was born on March 4, 1925 to Henry Wellborn and Helen Bergmann Wellborn in Comfort, Texas. He graduated from Center Point High School in 1942. After graduating, he went on to further is education where he received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas in 1946.

After graduating from A&M, he married Selma Brown and began his long and distinguished career with Robert E. McKee General contractors. His first project as civil engineer was the V.A. Hospital here in Kerrville. In his 44 years of work, some of his highlights include the Exchange Park in Dallas, The Francisco Hotel in Arizona, and the Dallas City Hall designed by IM Pei. He was later retained by IM Pei for consultations on the Louve in Paris and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. He retired from R.E. McKee in 1988 as a Vice President of the company.

After Selma's death he moved back to Kerrville to be near his family and the ranch he grew up on. He renewed a relationship with an old classmate, Dorothy Dean Shaw from Center Point High School. They were married on May 20, 2003. Their life together has been rich and full, each hard working, devoted to their church and to their family and friends. Cecil loved to watch his turkeys "roost" at night and share his "honey buns" with Dorothy in the mornings

Cecil Wellborn is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 55 years, Selma Wellborn, his beloved daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" Neuenforff and his brother, Earl "Tumpy" Wellborn.

Cecil Wellborn is survived by his second wife Dorothy Lee Dean Wellborn, his daughter Cecilia Ann Wellborn Samish, his son Henry Stephen Wellborn and his wife, Sherri M. Wellborn, his son-in-law, Don Neuendorff , Three grandchildren, Donna Christine Oakley, her husband Brian Kelly Oakley and their two children, Jordan Elizabeth, Robert Kelly, Lauren Neuendorff, and Avery Lee Neuendorff.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday , July 22, 2015 at Western Hills Baptist Church 2010 Goat Creek Road, Kerrville, TX. Burial to follow at the Center Point Cemetery in Center Point, Texas.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway Kerrville Texas.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name ot the Cancer Society, The Arthritis Foundation, The Western Hills Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
