KERRVILLE - Catherine Mary Ferguson-Harrell, 59, of Mountain Home, TX passed from this life on September 20, 2015 at a local hospital. Catherine was born December 5, 1955 to Charles Walter Ferguson and Mary Catherine Crites-Ferguson in Laurel, MS.
Cathy attended Tulane University for LVN, LSU Medical for ADN, and California State University for her BSN and MSN. She graduated with honors throughout school.
She stayed in Laurel a short time before moving to Meterie, LA. She met her husband James Edward Harrell in New Orleans, and they moved to Michigan where they were married on May 14, 1990. They moved to The Philippines where James was stationed, however, shortly after their arrival Mt. Pinatubo erupted sending them back to Texas. Cathy worked as a nurse for the VA hospital in Kerrville for 25 years.
Cathy loved to Garden! She had an amazing green thumb. She and James loved to relax on their porch overlooking the pond. They also loved watching the hummingbirds, and Cathy had multiple feeders. She and James also enjoyed fishing especially when they hit the coast. Cathy loved to read. She also was an amazing seamstress and made many baby clothes and also dresses for herself. Crocheting was another of her hobbies and she made multiple blankets. Cathy loved her family deeply and adored her grandchildren to pieces. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family.
Cathy was a member of the Chapter 24,Order of Eastern Star in Kerrville, Beauceant in San Antonio, and the Ladies Shrine.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, James Edward Harrell; three sons, John Harrell and wife Heidi, David Harrell, Tsgt Adam Latta and his wife Christina; daughter, Alesha Scott and husband Jason; grandchildren, Brayden Harrell, Zoey Latta, and Dylan Scott; sister, Becky Harwell and husband Jimmy; brothers, George Ferguson and Walter Ferguson and his wife Quida; nephews, Lanie Harwell and Brent Harwell; nieces, Shelly Martin and Wendy Castillo; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
There will be a time of visitation and reflection from 12 PM - 2 PM in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028 on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Funeral Services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Joseph Fagenbush officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 3250 Fredericksburg Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations may be made to the organization of one's choice.
