Lubbock On Sunday, August 30, 2009, Carl Wayne Sawyers, 85, passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on December 14, 1923 in Amarillo, TX to Wayne and Cathleen Cook Sawyers.

Carl graduated from Rice University with a degree in Civil Engineering and spent many years with the Holiday Inn Corporation. He also served his country in the United States Navy during WW II.

He met the love of his life in 1979 and married Miss Billie Phillips. They made a wonderful life together through family and church. They are both members of Calvary Baptist Church of Lubbock, TX.

Those left to honor and cherish Carls memories are his wife Billie two daughters, Anna Baca and Paula Minor and brother, John I. Sawyers. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of many loving friends.

Funeral Services will be held in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home at 2 PM, Saturday, September 5, 2009 with the Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. No graveside services will be held.

Pallbearers to serve are Jerry Bearden, Jonathan Hoffman, David Young, Mark Baca, and Landry Polaski. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Brollier, E. Jack Brown, S. J. Young, Wes Tunnell, Jack Manor, and Rumaldo Pino.
