Kerrville Calvin B. Anderson, 83, of Kerrville, passed away at a San Antonio hospital on Sunday morning, January 27, 2008. Mr. Anderson was born in Kaenbic, MN on November 5, 1924, to Victor and Martha Anderson. He was baptized into the Lutheran Church as an infant. Calvin grew up and attended school in Belle Plaine, MN. He was drafted into the Army on June 2, 1943 and served over 2 years in the South Pacific, including participation in the Invasion of Luzon in the Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart during the Luzon Campaign and on January 16, 1946, was honorably discharged.After World War II, he lived in St. Paul, MN where he attended Dunwoody Institute for training as a painter and paper hanger.In 1953, he married Rachel Groves, and they lived most of their lives in the Midwest raising a family of 5 children. He and Rachel are active members of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Kerrville.He has a passion for life, loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed playing cards and fishing.Cal is survived by his wife, Rachel of Kerrville 2 sons, Stephen and his wife, Lisa, and Ross and his wife Cheryl 3 daughters, Jill Romann and husband, Robert, Martha Bemis and husband Melvin and Katrina Miller and friend Travis Stottler. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren 5 greatgrandchildren 3 brothers, Donald, Delton and wife, Mary and Floyd and wife Marlys and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 infant sons, one sister, Eileen and 3 brothers, Merrill, Richard and Gary.ation will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 204 Spence St, Kerrville on Thursday morning, January 31, 2008 from 10:00AM 11:00AM.Funeral services will be held at the church following at 11:00AM. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family ask that monetary donations be mad to a cause dear to Cal, the Holy Cross Lutheran Church School Scholarship Fund.
