Kerrville Brenda Roberts, 70, of Kerrville, passed on to her next journey on October 5, 2010, at a Kerrville hospital surrounded by her two daughters following a courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was a local potter and sculptor and formerly coowner of their family owned business, Medical Pharmacy in Baytown, TX.
Brenda was born on December 4, 19, in Lake Charles, LA, to Olan Bell and Marjorie Clooney Bell. She grew up in Lake Charles and moved to the Houston area during her early 20s. In her early 30s she met the love of her life, Ken Roberts. After a short courtship, they married at their house on October 21, 1973, in Baytown, where they raised their family. She embraced motherhood of her two daughters, Karin and Leslea, always putting aside her own needs and desires in order to ensure their happiness. She was often found helping the kindergarten class at St. Marks United Methodist Church, painting in the art department at Lee College, or working alongside her husband at the pharmacy. In 1995, she and Ken retired to Kerrville where she met a fiesty group of women with whom she enjoyed sculpting and potting at the Schreiner Universtiy art department. Although she enjoyed art and traveling the southwest United States, her biggest joy in life was playing with her three grandsons: Chase, Chance, and Kenny. Nothing put a smile on her face more than their cuddles, kisses, and the funny things they would say.
Brenda is survived by her two daughters and sonsin law, Charlie and Karin Chapman of Gruene and Johnny and Leslea Chrisan of Lakeway, as well as the three joys of her life, her grandsons Chase and Chance Chapman of Greuene and Kenneth Chrisan of Lakeway. She is also survived by her very special cousins, Elaine and Jim Whitehead, as well as numerous other cousins and a large group of friends and neighbors. Constantly by her side was her loyal doggie, Chubbs, who will now live with Karins family. She is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Ken Roberts, as well as her parents.
A celebration of life will be held for both Brenda and Ken on Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 12:00 pm in the Bluebonnet Room at the Inn of the Hills, 1001 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028. Her daughters ask that you dress casual and comfortable as this is a celebration, not a mourning.
In lieu of flowers, her daughters ask that donations be made to the Humane Society of Kerrville, 2900 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX 78028 www.humanesocietyofkerrville.org
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and wellpreserved body, but rather to skid in broad side, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, WOW What a ride
