Bonita Jane Schnurstein (Schoenfelder) was born February 13th, 1949 at Waverly Mem Hosp, the daughter of Melvin and Melva Schnurstein of rural Denver, Iowa. Bonita took her last breath, surrounded by her loved ones, Sunday morning, June 30th, 2024 from complications of a ruptured small intestine.

She grew up in Denver and graduated in 1967 from Denver High School. In 1968, She married Miles Loper. Later in life, she married Randy Schoenfelder on May 19th,1984. Randy served the Waterloo PD for 34 years and retired in 2004. During her earlier high school and married life; she worked numerous jobs including: The Maid-Rite, The Strand Theatre, Santa Claus Industries, Sears, and Control-O-Fax, all in Waterloo, Iowa, and Wolters Mini Mart in Denver. She later retired from Randall’s Stop and Shop in Hudson, Iowa in 2005. After retiring, they moved to Harper, TX in 2006 and later on moved to Kerrville, TX in 2012. During their time in Kerrville, Bonita worked for Super S and Randy worked at the Fredericksburg Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, TX. 

Bonita and Randy enjoyed traveling; in doing so they have been to ALL 50 states, including Hawaii 3 times, 10 Canadian provinces, plus Puerto Rico, Australia, and New Zealand.  In her leisure time, Bonita loved to garden (while enjoying the hummingbirds/birds). She loved collecting snowmen, frogs, and thimbles and watching The San Antonio Spurs and The Iowa Hawkeyes (Men and Women). 

Bonita is preceded in death by her father, Melvin Schnurstein; mother, Melva Wedemeier; brother, Benjamin Benzine; nephew, Darryl Lines; grandson, Tevin Bennett and grandson-in-law, Irvin Williams.

Bonita is survived by children, Lisa Renee (Steve) Mangus of Corpus Christi, TX, Tina Larita (Stevie) West Of Richmond, TX, Carlos Eric (Carrie) Loper of Waterloo, Iowa; her stepchildren, Matt (Jenny) Schoenfelder Of Eureka, California, Seth Schoenfelder Of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Bernice (Bob) Lines Of Seligman, Arizona; in-laws, Carmel (Randy) Hines Of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Scott (Polly) Schoenfelder Of Millbrook, Alabama; nieces/nephews, Robbie (Beth) Lines, Brenda Erickson (Steve), Sean Benzine, Toby Benzine, Amanda (Kevin) Schook and Katie Benzine; grandchildren, Erica Vandorn (Garth), Cassi Tran (Aaron), Marissa (Beau) Frye, Arianna Loper-Troung, Andrew Tran (Toni), Christina Mangus (Octavio), Skylar Loper, Dakota (Abdullah) Ibrahim, Kearstin Loper, AngelLeigh Loper and Justina Loper; and great-grandchildren, Azeriha, Avah, Jarriel, Jaxon, Scarlett, Janiya, Audrey, Ariah, Ja’Laya, Melva, Lameire and Olivia. 

Visitation and a light lunch reception will be held from 1:00-4:00PM, Friday, July 5, 2024 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
