Billy R. McGrew, age 92, passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 31, 2024, in Ingram, Texas. Billy was born on March 24, 1932 in Ingram, Texas to loving parents, John and Bonnie McGrew. Billy was raised in Ingram, Texas until he joined the Navy at the age of seventeen. Billy later when on to join the Army and was part of many groups; to include the Paratroopers, Airborne and the Green Berets. A notable moment for Billy was when he was a part of the funeral procession for John F. Kennedy. Billy retired from the military after twenty-one years of service as a Master Sergeant. He was an active person who liked to stay busy so he then went on to work as a masonry and as maintenance man for the VA until he retired again. But he wasn’t done yet and went to work for the Ingram Post Office until he retired for the last time at the age of 86. Billy enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bonnie McGrew; brother, Doug McGrew; sister, Sue McGrew; sons, Bubba and Mark McGrew.
Billy is survived by his wife of twenty years, Jean Q. McGrew; step-daughter, Jellyn Capalac; step-son, Jeriel Capalac and wife, Jhenil; son, Dann McGrew; granddaughter, Mallory McGrew; wife, Renee; granddaughters, Jasmine Capalac and Gabriela Ortega; grandson, Alejandro Ortega; sister-in-law, Sally McGrew; niece, Ettalyn (Allen) Blankenship, Jackie (Terry) Newman, Katelyn and Lindsay Blankenship.
