Billy Glen “Bill” Havill-Brown, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his residence in Kerrville, Texas.
Bill was born on April 20, 1937 in Blue Ridge, Texas, to loving parents, Glen Franklin Havill and Florence Jones Havill.
Bill attended North Texas State College earning a BBA in Accounting in 1959. Upon graduating, Bill was hired by Haskins & Sells (one of the “big-eight” accounting firms). His initial salary was $450 a month ($25 more than other first year accountants due to receiving the H & S Award in collage). Bill became a CPA during the first year of his employment. He continued to work hard for the next eleven years achieving the position of “Principal” (level below partner). Bill then went on to work for SEDCO, Inc. (NY Stock Exchange international oilwell drilling contractor); being hired as the Chief Accountant. After proving his dedication and hard work; Bill was promoted to Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer. Bill continued to work there for eleven years until after SEDCO merged with Schlumberger. At this time Bill and David decided it was time for a sabbatical; spending the next seventeen years traveling in and ultimately living in an RV. They visited most of the U.S. states and much of Canada. After their time traveling Bill decided to go back to work. He got hired at Hager Construction, Inc. (custom home builder) as the Office Manager and Accountant. Bill continued to work for the company for the next fourteen years until he decided it was time for a second retirement.
Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Florence Havill; and siblings, Fairris Havill Lee (16 years older than Bill) and Gyna Havill Clark (10 years older than Bill).
Bill is survived by his devoted husband, David Norris Havill-Brown; niece, Linda Clark Lundberg (Don); nephew, Glen Ray Clark (Marilyn); four great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.
