SMSgt. Bill Gene Bailey, USAF Retired, who was born March 12, 1932 in Pennington Gap, VA died after a long illness on April 27, 2004 at his home in Ingram, TX. He was predeceased by his parents Bruce and Hazel. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vickie three daughters, JoAnn and husband Col. Wm H. Grigsby II of Warner Robins, GA, Susan and husband Scott Fitch of Allen, TX, Arden Bailey of Warner Robins, GA three brothers, Ronald and wife June, Gary and wife Lois, Alton and wife Susan, two sisters, Norma Green and Gladys Coffman of Knoxville one granddaughter, Bailey Ann Fitch, brotherinlaw, John McKay and wife Lisa of Gainesville, Fl and many other relatives and friends.He retired from the Air Force at Randolph AFB after 27 years and had 13 different assignments. His honors were US Air Force Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and others. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Jubilee Sunday School Class, First United Methodist Church, Air Force Association, Retired Enlisted Association, and National Rifle Association.Memorial services will be Sunday, May 2, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, TX with Rev. Warren Hornung officiating. Interment will be 2:15 Monday, May 4, 2004 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Honorary Pallbearers will be General Billy J. Boles, Maj. Gen. Travis R. McNeil, Maj. Gen. Ralph Holland, Col. Robert Potter, Col. Thomas Magner, Col. Robert Walker, Col. Dale Hardin, and Maj. Paul Holter.
