KerrvilleBetty Lou Byrd Smith, age 81, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 26, 2007. She was born October 24, 1926 in Miami, Florida to the late Don and Mabelle Byrd. She attended school in Eustis, Florida and attended her 50th school anniversary in Eustis, Florida. She met and married Albert Smith, a soldier in World War II Air Force, stationed in Florida. He went overseas and she stayed in Eustis, worked and made their nest egg for their trip to Texas, Alberts home, which later became hers also. He went to work for an oil company and moved up and down the Gulf coast with three children. In 1965 she went to beauty school in Houma, Louisiana and went to work as a hair dresser, living in Louisiana for 13 years. In 1967 moved back to Texas and worked there also. In 1983 they both retired and moved to Kerrville and built a home and settled down in the beautiful hill country. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ingram. She loved working for her Lord. She was always involved in many church activities. She was a member of Eastern Star in Kerrville, she was worthy matron in Karnes City, Texas before moving to Kerrville. She enjoyed doing crafts of all kinds. She spent many hours oil painting then she started china painting with two of her friends and spent many days enjoying being together painting.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspBetty is survived by her husband Albert, her 3 children, Ronald Smith wife, Judy, Edinburg, Texas, Stephen Smith wife Sharon, San Antonio, Texas, Linda Smith Herring husband, David, of Columbus, Ohio one sister, Phyllis Riverio and her husband, Roland, of Franklin, NC four grandchildren, Cody Smith and wife Christina of McAllen, TX, Matt Smith of Austin, TX, Will Smith of McAllen, TX, and William Collins of Kerrville, TX her stepgrandsons, Jordan Keller of McAllen, TX and Austin Mata of San Antonio, TX two great grandchildren, Valarie and Tristan Smith of McAllen, TX sisterinlaw, Violet Smith of Fredericksburg, TX brotherinlaw, Kenneth Gibbs of Winnie, TX and many nieces and nephews.ation will be Thursday evening, December 27, 2007 from 57PM at the Kerrville Funeral Home.Graveside services will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, on Friday afternoon, December 28, 2007 at 2:00PMIn lieu of floral arrangements, monetary donations in her name may be made to First Baptist Church of Ingram Building Fund or to the Living Tree Baptist Church, Kerrville.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspThe family invites you to leave a message or memory at www.kerrvillefuneralhome.com by selecting Obituaries.
